Privacy Policy
Effective 6 September 2026 · Version 2026-09-06
This policy explains how Recipe Rumble collects and uses personal information when you create an account, enter a cooking challenge, vote, or buy membership access.
Why we use it
- To create and secure your account, provide challenges, record entries and votes, calculate results, and deliver paid membership.
- To confirm age eligibility, contact you about your account or payment when necessary, and support fair administration of membership and challenges.
- To prevent duplicate entries, fraud, abuse, and security incidents, and to meet accounting and legal duties.
- To send challenge emails only when you enable that separate preference. You can turn it off in Settings.
Depending on the applicable law, these purposes rely on performing our agreement with you, complying with law, legitimate security and service interests, or your specific consent. We do not sell personal information or use it for behavioural advertising.
Who receives information
Public dish photos are shown anonymously during voting. Administrators can access account data and private verification photos when needed to run and verify a challenge. Hosting, email, database, Google sign-in, and Paynow providers may process the minimum information needed to provide their service. Tutorial videos are not loaded from YouTube unless you choose the clearly labelled load button.
Retention and security
Completed challenge records and their photos are scheduled for deletion after 90 days; aggregate points and win totals may remain. Password-reset links expire after 30 minutes and mobile refresh tokens after 30 days. Payment and accounting records may be retained for the period required by law. Accounts remain until deletion is requested or they are removed for a lawful reason. Security logs are restricted and should be rotated under the server’s operational retention schedule.
We use password hashing, HTTPS in production, CSRF protection, access controls, and restricted administrator views. No online service can promise absolute security.
Your choices and rights
You can update optional profile details and email preferences or permanently delete your account in Settings. Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or withdrawal of consent. You may also complain to the relevant data protection authority, including POTRAZ where Zimbabwe law applies. Withdrawing consent does not affect earlier lawful processing.
Children and international use
Recipe Rumble is for people aged 18 or older. Do not create an account for a child. Information may be processed in countries where our service providers operate; any required safeguards for international transfers must be put in place by the operator.
Contact and changes
Use the contact channel provided in your account or service communications for privacy requests. We may update this policy and will post a new effective date. Material changes may also be shown in the service.
